We LEAP Everywhere

We LEAP everywhere at Kermit King! Positive Behavior expectations are posted all across our campus: in classrooms, the school office, the library, the multipurpose room, the lunch tables, even in the bathrooms!  The posters and signs are a visual reminder for students of what behavior we expect to see in each area.  The reminders keep students on track for success and provide specific language for adults when it is time for reteaching and redirection. When all of us understand  and use the same words to teach specific, positive behavior, everyone on campus is more successful!

It's LEAP Pep Rally Time!

"What is a pep rally?" asked the students..."Why are we having a pep rally?" asked the adults.  Great questions!  A pep rally is a time to come together to build enthusiasm about events and to get excited about your team. Why now? April is the perfect time to have a PBIS pep rally: state testing is in full force, students and adults are very focused on the school year beginning to wind down, some could be at risk of losing their way when it comes to PBIS.  But not at Kermit King Elementary thanks to our amazing principal, Kelly Ward!

LEAP Bands...It's all about the positive!

Kermit King students earn LEAP Bands when they demonstrate specific positive behaviors all over our school campus. Teachers and staff teach students the expected behaviors in all areas of our school including classrooms, playground, lunch area, restrooms, office, etc. The bands focus on the four following attributes  and actions of positive behavior: Leaders, Encourage Each Other, Act Responsibly, and have a Positive Attitude.  All students may apply for each of the bands which are awarded in a ceremony every two weeks.

When students have earned all four bands and have shown over time that they continue the positive behavior, they are awarded the fifth band "Kermit King Frogs LEAP!" Students with five bands are invited to a special event with a special guest.  It is a special honor to wear all five LEAP bands!
